Purpose of Classification:

The purpose of this classification is to perform basic computer, software and hardware installation, configuration, and administration of department specific business applications and associated hardware. Positions in this class proactively monitor department specific business applications and services across multiple-platforms; perform a variety of analytical and programming tasks to enhance, configure and install department specific business applications; works with technical staff across technology disciplines to accomplish work with underlying technologies specific to individual department needs including client-server, service-oriented, database or web-based environments; and perform other duties as required.

Essential Functions:

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Provides individual department specific computer hardware and software support on department business systems including install, configure, apply patches and upgrades, moves and rearrangements, and troubleshoot and perform diagnostics for Level 1 and 2 problems on department specific systems.

Performs analysis and research about department specific applications and new technology, and interprets specifications, and designs modifications of low to average complexity.

Maintains department specific inventories, documents activities, executes and updates procedures. Confers with department users to define requirements and validate conformance to acceptance criteria. Coordinates department specific business system implementation with users and departmental personnel.

Assists in integration of desktop, laptops, mobile and other endpoint devices with department specific systems including messaging applications, system integration, management and testing tools, and business specific applications.

Provides through Tier 2 support to department users for basic software and hardware of end-user computing and desktop systems.

Recommends procedures and controls for problem prevention, and escalates to Tier 3 support when necessary.

Participates in the testing and evaluation of new desktop and mobile device solutions, and for department specific implementations.

Provides assistance and consultation to department users of computing systems software tools and applications; and trains end users in use of departmental software and business applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, or a closely a related field required; two years of progressively responsible, professional level technical support experience in a small-scale Information Technology environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; ability to calculate decimals and percentages.

Functional Reasoning: Requires ability to apply principles of rational systems. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.

Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria.

ADA Compliance:

Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, visual cues or signals. Some tasks require oral communications ability.

Notice to the bar and citizens:

A criminal case in the DeKalb Superior Court (DeKalb Judicial Circuit) is not assigned to a specific Judge until the District Attorney makes a decision to bring charges in the case.
Charges in a criminal case in Superior Court proceed by way of an indictment returned by the Grand Jury or by way of an accusation drawn by the District Attorney. When the indictment or accusation is filed with the Clerk of Superior Court, the case is then assigned to one of ten Superior Court Judges.
Prior to a case being filed, the case is “unindicted” and identified with a “D” number. It is not assigned to a specific Superior Court Judge.
All questions regarding “D” number cases should therefore be directed to the District Attorney’s office.
